Zedd - Spectrum (Lazerdisk Party Sex Remix) - Download

For those of you who don’t know, Zedd got his start on the path to fame after winning two different Beatport remixes. Since then he has produced remixes of many well known artists such as The Black Eye Peas, Fatboy Slim, Skrillex, and Lady Gaga, as well as releasing his own original tracks such as “Shave It” which was premiered as a thirty second teaser on Skrillex’s website, and, most recently releasing “Spectrum” featuring vocals by Matthew Koma.

Wanting to give opportunity in the same way that he had, he hosted his own Beatport remix contest where the winner will have their remix released on Interscope records, a bunch of free gear, Beatport credits, and a suprise gift from Zedd himself.

Although they didn’t win the contest (Check out the winning remix on Beatport), this version is my personal favorite. Lazerdisk always releases gold, and this track is no different. They added their own great melodies and use Matthew Koma’s vocals superbly, especially at the drops. In the middle of the song, they’ve got a great slap bass reminiscent melody going on that leads in to a very mellow harp and vocal bridge, right before they drop the track again. This song has so much going on in it and was perfectly executed, truly showing their versatility.

OVERWERK – Signal

OVERWERK - Signal - Download

OVERWERK is another one of my favorite artists. Hailing from Canada, he makes gritty, melodic electro, similar to Zedd. His last release, The Nth º was released for free on his website, and is wonderful. It includes some killer tracks like “Odyssey” and “Buzzin’” and for free is a very logical download. This latest track, “Signal,” released today, seems almost like a collaboration between Zedd and a house artist, having riffs that sound almost like they’re at war with one another, electro vs house, fighting for which one gets control of the song, but eventually coming together in the end for a beautiful finish. A very polished song, like everything he makes. You can hear the effort he puts into his production. Definitely a song for dancing, I would recommend listening to this when you need to be energized, such as cleaning or working out.

Other thoughts: This is one of my favorite songs he’s made, a collaboration he did with Andy’s Ill:

Diplo - Set It Off (feat. Lazerdisk Party Sex) - Download

In case you missed the release of Diplo’s six-track Express Yourself EP back in June, I wanted to bring to your attention “Set It Off,” featuring moombahton duo Lazerdisk Party Sex. In his first solo release since 2004, Diplo meets and exceeds our expectations of being an unbounded, genre-mashing DJ and curator unearthing new music worldwide. Express Yourself EP is a whirlwind of dance music, drawing inspiration from Dancehall, New Orleans Bounce, Dupstep, and EDM.

“Set It Off” is a classic Diplo track with schizophrenic beats mashed with Lazerdisk Party Sex’s moombahton sound. It is a combination of Dancehall, Reggaeton, and EDM, with a space dub vibe, high-pitched synths, pitched-up vocals, and a complimentary bass kick. If you’re interested, Diplo and Lazerdisk Party Sex released their new video “Set It Off” yesterday, which has an interesting concept: strippers in space. Check it out.

Feed Me – Little Cat Steps

Feed Me - Little Cat Steps - Download

Feed Me is back with his latest release since his hit album Escape From Electric Mountain. The intro, reminiscent of Daft Punk’s “Aerodynamic,” lulls the listener into a trance with mesmerizing synth lines. Suddenly, they fade and leave his signature crunchy bass lines and monster sounds that listeners have grown to love. This, combined with the fact that he designs all of his own artwork (including his signature character), proves the fact that Jon Gooch is a creative genius. While this song isn’t anything new or out of the ordinary for Feed Me, it definitely warrants a listen and secures its place among the collection of golden tracks that mau5trap has been releasing lately.

Since his April show (with teeth!) at The Ogden, no news when he’ll be back, but missing him would be a crime. He is a master mixer and his songs sound wonderful together, leaving the concert-goer fulfilled after seeing him live.

Alex Clare - Too Close (HLM Remix) - Download

With his immensely huge summer hit “Too Close”, Alex Clare pretty much skyrocketed to the center of the universe. The original is seeing national and worldwide radio attention, and if you watched the Olympics at all you were bound to hear this song once or twice. Originally produced by Diplo & Switch (A.K.A. Major Lazer) HLM has thrown a filthy electro spin on it. This song is a whole adventure at six and a half minutes long, each phrase takes you on a little different journey. HLM makes it much more dance party appropriate with an intro that will get you singing along then drop you like you’re hot. This is not one to pass up and we already got it lined up for you, just hit download and enjoy!
